What You Should (NOT) Be Doing…

You are going to be a thousand different women in your lifetime; there is no need to worry about what you aren’t right now. Soon enough you will be more than you ever imagine. Just focus on breathing deeply and being inspired.”                                                                                                                     – Anonymous

The above quote was in an article published in the MOPS Magazine recently. Something I heard over this past weekend at the CAPPA Conference here in Tucson, Arizona was around the word SHOULD. How I should do, feel, make, be…the possibilities are endless…and that’s the problem. The term SHOULD (and SHOULDN’T) should not be part of our vocabulary, our inner voice…even the way we think. AMEN.

Let’s not try to live up to expectations. The ones our parents or friends may have. The ones television shows and magazines pictorialize: “Hi, I’m supermodel/actress/rich guy’s wife and I have a personal trainer/personal chef/nanny and housekeeper”. UGH.

The point is, as a new mom, don’t worry about it. Clean house, doing laundry, feeding visitors…don’t worry about it. The first step of motherhood is not about anything you AREN’T. It‘s about everything you ARE: To one tiny person. And that is all that matters RIGHT THIS MINUTE. Now stop reading and go love on your baby!
