Top Three Tucson Hot Spots on a Cool Day – Maternity Style
With temperatures soaring over 100 degrees here in Tucson, it can be difficult to get some relief, especially when pregnant and quite possibly already uncomfortable. Here are my top tips to cool off in the desert southwest:
- FIND A POOL. Swimming, walking around in a pool, and just lounging in water all feel terrific, especially towards the end of pregnancy. Water buoys up that baby belly and can be a wonderful relief on the lower back, sciatic pain, and swollen extremities. It’s so hot hotels are typically well under capacity for out-of-towners, offering great incentives for staycations and Groupon deals. Book your babymoon at JW Marriott Starr Pass, Westin La Paloma, Loews Ventana Canyon, The Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain, or Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort which all have amazing views, pools, and excellent food options.

- THE MALL. Any mall will do, they all have air conditioning. Walking (aka window shopping) is one of the best exercises one can do while pregnant. Had enough of dreaming of that cute outfit in the window and wondering if it will fit your post-baby body? Head in for a movie. Better yet, head to Roadhouse Cinema at 4811 E. Grant Road, where you can actually put your feet up and be waited on during your movie. Luxury leather recliners, personal service, and a big screen…you might not want to go home! Go to www.roadhousecinemas.com to reserve your seats.

- My personal favorite, PATAGONIA LAKE. Pack a picnic and head for the sandy beach and warm waters of this man-made lake just an hour and a half from downtown. Take an air mattress and float in the designated swimming area, or rent a boat for a little more fun. Tuesdays are half price at the marina and they offer a Veteran’s Discount as well. Check out camping and day use information at http://azstateparks.com/Parks/PALA/. Patagonia Lake is a TripAdvisor 2015 Certificate of Excellence winner.
