Shannon Cheeseman

Owner & Doula

Shannon Cheeseman received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon and then went on to complete her EMT-Basic certification.  When pregnant with her first child, she prepared for birth using the Bradley Method.  Four babies later, Shannon has become a passionate advocate of education and being an informed consumer of medical care.

Shannon is a DONA International Certified Birth Doula as well as a certified Dr. Sears Pregnancy Health Coach and is pleased to be able to provide her clients with information on optimal pregnancy wellness.

With a background in un-medicated birth, Shannon has knowledge of a variety of comfort measures and techniques to reduce labor stress and manage pain.  It is her desire as a doula to create the best birth experience for YOU, based entirely on your labor and birth preferences, with the support of your caregiving team.

In her “regular life”, Shannon is a busy mom of four amazing children, PTSA Member, and active in her children’s schools and the community.  For fun, she and her family enjoy camping, doing anything outdoors, and being around water wherever they can find it in sunny Tucson, Arizona!  Shannon is the owner and primary birth doula for Blessed Birth, LLC.

Lauryn Valladarez

Lauryn Linsell Valladarez received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and Spanish Language from Chapman University. Upon graduation, she moved to Central America where she worked with an international development organization in the public health sector.

Attending several births in mountain communities in Honduras, she saw many under-resourced families faced unimaginable challenges to get quality health care throughout all stages of pregnancy. Her work led to a Fulbright research grant in Sexual and Reproductive Health in Nicaragua in 2011. Eventually managing operations for two non-profit health organizations in Nicaragua, Lauryn went on to get her Masters of Public Health at UNAN in Nicaragua.

Lauryn spent her pregnancy and gave birth to her son, Noah, in Nicaragua, under a distinct model of care found in many developing countries called MOSAF (Family Centered Health Model). With her experience in physiology, public health, and sexual and reproductive health, her mission is to perpetuate the mother-centered birth model, encouraging and empowering women to make educated choices about their pregnancy and birth preferences.

Lauryn is also certified through DONA International and provides services for English speaking and Spanish speaking mothers alike. She now lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband and two sons.  Lauryn is an independent contractor for Blessed Birth, LLC and serves as Shannon’s full-time backup doula.
